Hayes Creek N.T. to Etty Bay QLD

Well  Everyone,
Dave finished up the job on Wednesday arvo, so we had a few drinks up at the Hayes Creek Pub & another great meal & left first thing Thursday Morning.

We stopped in Katherine to get some groceries, then onto Daly Waters Pub for a look:

The place was packed so we headed off to spend the night at Cape Crawford Heartbreak Hotel.

By the time we got there it was dark & the caravan park was pretty full so after finding a spot & a quick shower we headed up to the pub for a meal & more great music from Rod Dowsett.

We left very early the next morning, heading home to look for work :(
There was roadworks on the Barkley Hwy - NT side:

Then we crossed into Qld
Crossing the border

We stopped at Camooweal for fuel - interesting sign:

Back on the road again, not much traffic heading East. mostly heading West.
We did notice that everything was so dry & we passed these cattle obviously the farmer was trying to find them some grass!

A wide load ahead:

Lucky there was a spot to get off the road!

Continuing on we got to Mt Isa pretty late & got a drive through site, so we could take off early again.

We decided not to make it to Charters Towers today as Shantelle was working & we would be tired when we got there so we stopped at Hughendon at a lovely little caravan park:

So all rested we set off for Charters Towers about 9 the next morning.
We pulled into the roadhouse to fuel up & spotted these huge Dump Trucks - photo!
Apparently they were waiting for a Police Escort:

when we got to the Top Tourist park it was packed, but they still managed to fit us in.

We had a lovely afternoon catching up with Shantelle & dinner at Irish Molly's Hotel

Then headed off home on Monday morning. But there were heaps of roadworks & 2 Bakeries that held us up :)

The second Bakery was at Cardwell, the poor Town is still recovering from Cyclone Yasi. It is having major roadworks happening & foreshore restoration:

Then home to Etty Bay, it was great to see everything so green, definately a change to the last 6 weeks.
A big thankyou to our neighbours Marty & Tash for taking such great care of our home :)

Spike back home int the shed!
Well now we are just playing the waiting game to hear about a job for Dave - will keep you posted.
Cheers & Happy Travels,
Shell
